1st Class were very busy last week measuring their classroom and many of the things in it while we were looking at length in maths. We used all sorts of non standard units like cubes and crayons, hand spans and footprints and even strides before we got onto the all important metre. Well done to Louie for figuring out why we need a standard unit of measure.
When we ran out of things to measure we threw bean bags in the hall and measured how far we could throw too.
Our estimating has gotten really good. Ryan even managed to guess Mrs. McDowell’s exact height! Pretty impressive. Well ďone Ryan!
Here are some photos of us in action. Now it may look like it’s all fun and games but we promise we were hard at work!
